Camp week 1 curriculum consists of 9 learning modules:

Day One

Module 1: Getting to know science and the scientific method at ASU

Module 2: Getting to know the organisms around us, including black widows. (safety first!)

Day Two

Module 3: Watching the behavior of black widows (It is fascinating!)

Module 4: Generating testable hypotheses concerning black widow behavior in a city.

Day Three

Module 5:  Developing methods; Collecting data

Module 6: Collecting data; Analyzing data (statistics introduction)

Day Four

Module 7: Understanding how to demonstrate your knowledge

Module 8: Creation of findings

Day Five

Module 9: Facts and Proof time

Explore your Spidey senses as we examine the life of the black widow spider. YES, that’s right! In our safe, controlled Black Widow Laboratory you will get up close and personal. We will use the behavior and ecology of these spiders to get a hands-on appreciation for the scientific method in action.  Campers will run their own scientific experiment on black widows during the week and learn how to present their findings! This is the only camp out there where your inner Spiderman(woman) can break loose!
